01.16.12 - Bring That Beat Back
Can it be all so simple? You know, everyone's talkin' bout the good old days. Where have they gone? I've always tried to keep that vibe at all my parties. A party where anyone can come and hear good music, vibe out, nod their head, discover new tunes, relive the moment when they first heard a record, or just share good times with friends. I did it last year at the Ace Hotel, and now I'm about to do it again at Parlour NYC. The party is called Excellence, and it's a monthly party with Guest DJ's and myself as a resident. This month's guest is Roc Family/ Jay-Z/ Kanye DJ slash studio whiz Young Guru. Expect the usual Prestige party vibe, as I'll be playing anything from Black Moon to Juniur Murvin to De La to James Brown. Feel good music is back in NYC. To get an idea of what kind of stuff I will be dropping, feel free to browse (and listen to) my Live Ace Hotel Mixes . I'm keeping my policy of just spinning good music, no bullshit, no drama, just a good time. I'm looking forward to connecting with some good NYC DJs and people through this venture.
FleaMarketFunk.com's Big Ups Interview series is still on the come up. Browse through interviews with DJ's like Andy Smith, Cosmo Baker, Akalepse, Smoove, and about 50 other producers, diggers, and artists who are doing big tings.
My photo blog, Gettin' Down is still poppin'. Aa retrospective of the last 10 years and beyond of photos I've taken in a variety of mediums, and a visual mixtape for your eyes. See you in the crates. Keep Diggin'!
